According to AboCom, the HA2500 Wireless Multimedia Residential Gateway provides the ability to network computers and other IP-enabled devices. It seamlessly integrates several networking functions to offer wireless transmission of video, data, and voice, and serves as a networked storage system, wireless access point, and personal video recorder. The device is based on an Intel XScale IXP425 network processor running Windows CE .NET 4.2, and offers a broad range of connectivity options including 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, Bluetooth, and Ethernet.

AboCom says its HA2500 Multimedia Gateway incorporates four major functions:

Real-time video broadcasting
- Supports analog to digital encoding and broadcasting of MPEG 1/2/4 format
- Multicasting through Ethernet and WiFi
Residential Gateway
- SOHO Router.
- IP sharing and network security with NAT
- Network protection through VPN and firewall
Wireless Access Point
- Web browser based configuration utility
- 128-bit WEP encryption
- MAC address filtering
- AP visibility modes
- Static IP address or DHCP
- Automatic device discovery
Personal Video Recorder
- Works with cable, digital cable, satellite, antenna, and more
- Automatic digital recording and time shifting with built-in HDD
