Tech Soft 3D has announced a new release of its high-level graphics framework software for developing high-performance, interactive 2D/3D applications. Version 14.0 of HOOPS 3D Application Framework (HOOPS/3dAF) is supported on a range of operating systems including Windows CE and Windows XP/XPe.

Tech Soft describes HOOPS/3dAF as a set of extensible, high-level components that simplifies the design, development, and maintenance of high-performance, interactive 2D/3D software, for example in CAD/CAM/CAE applications. HOOPS components provide building blocks that allow developers to work from a high level when creating custom, high performance graphic applications.

New features in version 14.0, according to Tech Soft, include:
        • Automatic graphic database optimization for improved performance
        • Optimizations for rendering "point cloud data" derived from physical measurements
        • C# Wrappers for managed code development
        • Anti-alias rendering of line, edge and text geometry
In addition to supporting Windows CE and Windows XP/XPe, HOOPS/3dAF also supports Unix, Linux, and MAC OS X, according to the company.

Tech Soft says it will hold a webcast on Sept. 7, in which it will provide more details on version 14.0, including demos, as well give participants as a "sneak peek" at what's coming in version 15.0.
