Co-located with the
Portable Design Conference and Exhibition, the ARM Developers' Conference divides its technical sessions into 15 tracks:
- Connected Mobile Computing
- Design Synthesis Techniques and Validation
- Embedded Memory Technology
- ESL and Virtual Platforms
- FPGA
- Graphics and Multimedia
- Hypervisors
- Microcontrollers
- Multiprocessing
- Operating Systems
- Power Management
- Security
- SoC Design Elements
- Software Debug
- Software Optimization

The Microsoft-presented sessions will be of particular interest to Windows CE and Windows Mobile developers. For example, program manager Juggs Ravalia (photo at right) offers a talk on "Understanding the Windows CE Device Driver Architecture and ARM Integration." The session is scheduled to detail the newly-introduced CE User mode driver framework, and conclude by presenting some ARM-specific driver development best practices.
In "Introduction to Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Platform Builder System Debug," program manager James Stultz will provide an introduction to the Platform Builder System Debugger for first time users. According to the conference agenda, the session "will cover connectivity, system debugging features, advanced debugging features, and limitations. It will also cover demos using the Device Emulator HW assist support as well as the RealView ICE HW probe, debugging the bootloader and more."
In ".NET Micro Framework and DPWS on ARM Processors," program manager James Mateer presents the
.NET Micro Framework implementation and the steps required to develop a device profile. "The .NET Micro Framework brings Web Services to ARM platforms allowing dynamic networks of devices to appear, contribute, and disappear seamlessly," he writes. "Utilizing the devices profile for the Web Services specification, knowing what operating system or application software is on the other side, no longer matters."
According to its organizers, the ARM Developers' Conference will also feature an exhibition hall with more than 80 booths and "all-new design pavilions" featuring product demonstrations. General sessions in the ballrooms will feature panel discussions and ARM device road map presentations.
Attending exhibits and analyst presentations is free, while pricing for other events varies. A full-access 3-day conference pass, including a "free" 4G iPod Nano music player, costs $695 before August 31st and $795 afterwards. More information is available
