        ATX SBC targets multimedia gaming apps

        Acrosser Technology will soon ship an ATX format single-board computer (SBC) aimed at high-end multimedia gaming applications including video slot machines. The AR-B1891 combines low power Pentium or Celeron processors with support for dual independent displays, a key requirement in the gaming industry, the company says.

        The AR-B1891 supports Socket 479 Pentium M and Celeron M processors. The SBC implements a 400 MHz front-side bus and provides two 184-pin DIMM slots for up to 2 GB of DDR RAM, according to Acrosser. An ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 chipset, equipped with 64 MB of video RAM.

        The company lists the following key features and specifications for the AR-B1891:
        • Processor -- Socket 479 Pentium M or Celeron M
        • 400 MHz front-side bus
        • Memory -- up to 2 GB DDR RAM in two 184-pin DIMM sockets
        • Display:
          • ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 (M9)
          • 64 MB on board video RAM
          • supports dual independent displays
          • analog VGA out
          • single 18-bit or dual channel 36-bit LVDS out
          • supports DirectX 8.1
        • Audio:
          • Realtek ALC202A
          • supports AC97 with line-in/out and mic-in
        • Storage
          • CompactFlash Type II
          • Microdrive
          • IDE supports Ultra DMA 33/66/100
        • Other I/O ports:
          • one 10/100 Ethernet
          • six USB 2.0 -- 4 on rear panel, 2 internal
          • two RS232
          • PS/2 keyboard/mouse
          • parallel port
        • Expansion:
          • 32-bit, 33 MHz PCI slot supports two PCI masters
          • Mini PCI slot
        Acrosser recently announced free customization services for both Windows CE and Windows XP Embedded.

        Availability

        According to Acrosser's website, the AR-B1891 will be "available soon."
