Avocent has released a pair of applications that let administrators remotely manage Windows-based servers from a Windows Mobile device. SonicAdmin QR and SonicAdmin PRO install on any Windows server, and can then be run from a Windows Mobile smartphone and PDA, according to Avocent.

SonicAdmin QR gives system administrators access to any server allowed by the Active Directory profile. Avocent says administrators can then:
        • View server statistics
        • Shutdown and reboot the server
        • View event logs
        • View and manage processes
        • Manage Active Directory user accounts
        • Run "quick commands" such as ping, ipconfig, and traceroute
SonicAdmin Pro includes all the functionality of SonicAdmin QR, and adds:
        • Windows services management
        • File and folder properties
        • File explorer, search, and editor
        • Command line interface
SonicAdmin QR is available for an annually renewable license fee of $99 per user. SonicAdmin Pro goes for $399 annually per user. A 15-day free trial download is available on request, here, according to the company.

In addition to supporting Windows Mobile devices, the SonicAdmin apps also can be used on Blackberries.
