Utimaco says that SafeGuard PDA provides complete encryption of the entire storage capacity of the mobile device. Additionally, it protects outgoing email attachments with a self-extracting, passphrase-protected capability, the company says.

In the event of a lost or stolen device, all data is protected in all power, the company claims. "Even if a hard drive is removed from its host unit, the resident data is locked behind an impenetrable shield," Utimaco says.

"In Chicago alone, taxi drivers recently reported that during a six-month period, 21,460 PDA's and Pocket PCs were accidentally left behind in their cabs," the company notes.
