NoviiMedia has released an update to its TV remote control application that runs on Windows Mobile smartphones and Pocket PCs. NoviiRemote Deluxe supports the latest handheld devices, and can control any home entertainment device with a compatible IrDA port, according to the company.

NoviiRemote Deluxe comes with "about a hundred" pre-installed infrared codebases for many popular TVs, cable and satellite boxes, and other devices, according to NoviiMedia. Users can download approximately 500 additional codebases from the company's website. The device can also "learn" codes from an existing remote.

Additionally, NoviiRemote is user-configurable, offering "unlimited user-defined options" for designing a custom remote control, according to the company. Buttons can be added, deleted, renamed, resized, and moved around on the screen, and multiple profiles can be stored as "preferences" representing different rooms in the house, different users, and so on. A macro programming feature allows multiple actions -- turning on several devices, for example -- to be assigned to a single button.

A ten-day free trial download of NoviiRemote Deluxe is available here. The full version is priced at $35.
