The SBC-GX1 Development Kit (pictured above) includes a "comprehensive build" of Windows XP Embedded pre-installed onto a 512MB CompactFlash memory card. The OS includes the Service Pack 1 (SP1) update, which offers the full benefits of the .NET Framework (v1.1), support for Visual Studio 2003, remote debugging, and the latest security fixes, Arcom says.

Also included is support for the Enhanced Write Filter, a feature that reduces the wear on a CompactFlash card by overlaying a copy of the spare CompactFlash space into main RAM. Accesses to the CompactFlash card are re-routed to main memory. This is said to create a safer and more reliable environment for deeply embedded systems.

The development kit bundles the SBC-GX1 SBC fitted with 256MB of DRAM, AC power supply, mouse, full cable set, Quickstart Manual, Development Kit CD, and USB/CompactFlash programming adapter. An optional NEC 6.5-inch TFT color LCD module and analog touchscreen are also available.
