Recordings of live events are increasingly distributed on CD immediately upon event conclusion. MF Digital's "5906EC Live" can produce between 6 and 60 such CDs almost instantly. The Windows XP Embedded powered device is aimed at applications in schools, churches, and courts of law.

According to MF Digital, the 5906 Live combination recorder / duplicator allows easy recording of up to 50 hours of CD quality sound from virtually any mixer or other analog or digital source. The user records the event or performance to the hard disk, sets the desired Start IDs or track points, and can even choose where to span discs if the program exceeds the capacity of one CD. The company claims that actual duplication of up to six copies at once can begin within minutes of the events conclusion.

MF Digital says its "disc casting" technology, available as a "free client command module," allows connection to additional CD-5906EC towers over a network, providing the capability to burn CDs on remote machines located around a concert facility or campus, or in a production facility.

The device is available with an optional disk autoloader.
