Winnov unveiled a high-end audio/video recording and streaming reference platform at the International Security Conference last week. The platform is said to be useful for the surveillance market, for applications requiring a large number of simultaneous video inputs, and in other demanding audio/video recording and streaming applications.

The DVRP1 reference platform makes use of audio and video compression technologies found in Microsoft's Windows Media 9 software, and includes a proprietary multi-channel custom IC that streamlines data transfers and reduces CPU overhead, the company said.

Key features of the DVRP1 are said to include . . .
        • record and view up to 48 cameras and microphones at the same time
        • view multiple live cameras in a single screen, locally and remotely (see screenshot example below)
        • allows connecting a large number of cameras to a single device
        • guarantees audio and video synchronization, using a proprietary Winnov-developed chip
        • includes digital input/output signals for connection to various alarm devices and watchdog timers, for unattended and automated operation
