Telus Mobility, a wireless service provider in Canada, has introduced a new combo phone/PDA running Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket PC Phone edition into the Canadian market. The Audiovox PPC 6600, boasting a slide out QWERTY keypad and VGA resolution camera, is marketed by UTStarcom Personal Communications.

The PPC 6600 appears to be yet another rebranded version of the "Harrier" design produced by Taiwanese ODM (original design manufacturer) HTC and previously introduced in the US by both Verizon and Sprint. It is based on a 400MHz Intel XScale PXA26x ("Dalhart") processor with 128MB of RAM and 64MB of Flash memory.

Principal features of the PPC 6600 are said to include:
        • 3.5-inch QVGA (240x320 pixels) 65K-color transflective LCD, operating in either portrait or landscape mode
        • 640 x 480 VGA 1.3 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom
        • Bluetooth capable
        • MP3 player with CD-quality stereo sound, supported by Windows Media Player
        • Integrated QWERTY keypad
        • SDIO expansion slot for additional memory and peripheral devices
According to Telus, the PPC 6600 "replicates the familiar look and feel of a Windows Mobile based PC," and provides a full suite of standard Windows Mobile enabled applications, including Pocket Outlook, Excel, Word, Windows Media Player, ActiveSync, and MSN Messenger. It allows users to send and receive email or text messages; view, create, and edit documents; browse the Web; listen to news, music, and other audio clips; and send and receive multimedia messages, such as pictures and video clips.

The Audiovox PPC 6600 is available for about $350 (CDN) based on a three-year contract, or $750 with no contract.
