Advantech has extended its range of "embedded automation computers" with a Core 2 Duo-based system running Windows XP Embedded. The UNO-2182 offers PCI-104 and PC Card expansion, plus two gigabit Ethernet and four serial ports, the company says.

Closely resembling the company's recently introduced UNO-2172, the UNO-2182 comes in a rugged aluminum enclosure with top-mounted heat sink. It features a 1.5 GHz Core 2 Duo processor.

According to Advantech, the UNO-2182 comes with a standard memory complement of 1 GB of DDR2 SDRAM. It also includes 512 KB of battery-backed SRAM.

As noted, the device has a PCI-104 expansion location, plus a PC Card slot that supports both 32-bit CardBus and 16-bit PCMCIA 2.1. In addition, there is an internal Type I/II CompactFlash slot and room for a 2.5-inch SATA-1 HDD, according to the company.
