Advantech has extended its range of "embedded automation computers" with a system that offers Pentium M or Celeron M processing power and runs Windows XP Embedded. The UNO-2176 offers PC/104 and CompactFlash expansion, plus two 10/100 Ethernet and six serial ports, the company says.

Closely resembling the company's recently introduced UNO-2182 and UNO-2172, which appear to be higher-end devices in the line, the UNO-2176 comes in a rugged aluminum enclosure with top-mounted heat sink. It features either a 1.4GHz Pentium M processor or a 1.0GHz Celeron M.

The UNO-2176 comes with a standard memory complement of 512MB of DDR SDRAM. It also includes 512KB of battery-backed SRAM, according to Advantech.

As noted, the device has a PC/104 expansion location, plus a CompactFlash slot that supports both Type I and Type II cards. In addition, there is room for a 2.5-inch IDE hard drive, according to the company.

The UNO-2176 offers two RS232 serial ports and four isolated RS232/422/485 ports with automatic flow control, plus two 10/100 Ethernet ports. Also included is a DB15 VGA connector that supports displays with resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 pixels, according to Advantech.
