(Click here for a larger view of Advantech's UNO-1170)According to Advantech, the UNO-1170 includes an aluminum chassis designed for DIN-rail or wall mounting. The device can operate fanlessly at temperatures up to 60 deg. C (140 deg. F), making it an "ideal choice" for "machine builder" applications, Advantech says, citing EDMs (electrical discharge machines) or industrial textile machines.
The UNO-1170, using an undisclosed chipset, is available with either a 1.0GHz Celeron M CPU or a 1.4GHz Pentium M. The device comes with 512MB or 1GB of DDR memory, and 512KB of battery-backed SRAM, says Advantech. Mass storage is provided by a Type I/II CompactFlash slot.
Actually, the UNO-1170 comes in two configurations. There's the standard model shown in our photos, plus a "E" version that adds an inch to the device's width, and, in return, delivers both a PC/104+ expansion slot and a bay for a 2.5-inch hard disk drive.

Both devices share the same front panel, pictured above. At the top, the UNO-1170 has clearly labeled status lights, monitoring functions such as LAN and serial port activity, plus 3.5mm jacks for line-level audio I/O. Below that, there are three USB ports, two 10/100 Ethernet ports, three serial ports, and a VGA output.
Advantech says the UNO-1170 also has a fourth USB port internally. Also cited on the data sheet, though not visible in the photographs, is a PS/2 port, for keyboard/mouse connection.
