BVM is shipping an Intel Core 2 Duo-based PC with a PCI expansion slot. The fanless ECK-161B targets embedded applications with dual-display capability, supporting VGA, component, S-video, and composite video at up to 1080p, and also provides dual gigabit Ethernet ports, plus USB and serial connectivity.

The ECK-161B is designed for embedded multimedia displays for retail stores or exhibitions, POS (point of sale), and surveillance applications, as well as low power control and monitoring for remote locations, says BVM. The system offers a 1.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or 1.86GHz Intel Celeron M CPU, each of which is paired with an Intel 945GME chipset. The ECK-161B also supplies 1GB of DDR2 SDRAM, as well a front-accessible CompactFlash slot and an internal 2.5-inch SATA hard disk drive (HDD) bay, says BVM.

Dual display ports are said to be provided: one VGA port and a 7-pin mini-DIN port that supports component, S-video, or composite video at up to 1080p. The system also provides high definition 7.1 channel audio, supporting two independent outputs, says the company.

I/O includes dual gigabit Ethernet ports, six USB 2.0 ports, and four serial ports, says BVM.The ECK-161B is equipped with a PCI slot, which can hold a PCI card up to 155mm (about 6.1 inches) in length, the company adds.

Power is said to be available from either an external 12VDC supply via a 4-pin mini-DIN socket, or from a 9 to 36VDC source through a three-pin terminal block. Power and reset switches are recessed to prevent accidental operation, and the CompactFlash socket is "secured behind a screw on cover," says the company. The rugged chassis is said to be constructed from heavy-duty aluminum alloy, and offers optional wall mounting.

Specifications listed for the BVM ECK-161B include:
