BioFoundry, a division of OSS Nokalva, has released a Windows CE implementation of the ISO specification for biometrics, BioAPI 2.0, ISO/IEC 19784-1. The BioAPI 2.0 WinCE Reference Implementation is touted as a complete, high-quality development kit that reduces the costs and risks of biometrics adoption in Windows CE-based systems.

The Reference Implementation package comprises the following:
        • BioAPI 2.0 framework
        • Template BSP (biometric service provider)
        • Sample password BSP
        • Sample application
        • Basic User Documentation
BioFoundry says its reference design can "prevent interoperability problems between different biometric software components and applications, caused by diverging interpretations of the standard's text." This, in turn, increases confidence in the specification's "correctness" and reduces the risk of ad-hoc "standards" being developed, according to the company.
