New support for Intel's PXA255 processor is included in the FDx SDK for Windows CE, enabling developers to create mobile apps that support fingerprint authentication for a variety of handheld devices, including the
Psion Teklogix 7535, Casio DT-X10, and
Compaq IPAQ. The latter two make use of a RATOC USB CompactFlash adapter to interface with SecuGen's Hamster III USB fingerprint reader (shown here).
A new "Matching Score" API (application programming interface) is said to improve verification performance by requiring a fingerprint to meet certain quality levels, in order to be accepted during the fingerprint registration process. By registering better quality templates, the rate of false rejections is reduced, since false rejections are often caused by either the presence of artifacts or the absence of minutiae in a fingerprint image processed during registration, the company says.
SecuGen is offering free SDK upgrades to those who have purchased an SDK Maintenance package within the past twelve months.
