Pocket PC Magazine has nominated two Bitstream Inc. products as contenders for the publication's Best Software of 2005 Awards, which focus on "outstanding" software for Windows Mobile Pocket PCs and smartphones.

The company's ThunderHawk Pocket PC Edition, a previous winner in the category of "Internet browsers and Web utilities," has been nominated for that award for the third time this year. And for the first time, ThunderHawk Smartphone Edition has been nominated for the "Phone Tools & Synchronization" category.

Among ThunderHawk's claims to fame is that it is "the only wireless Web browser that displays full HTML pages while offering desktop-level Java capabilities," according to Anna Chagnon, President and CEO of Bitstream. "Pocket PC magazine's experts recognize that subscribers want to run powerful Java applets on a Pocket PC, while also being able to find and read information quickly on small screen device," she says.

A complete list of Pocket PC Magazine's Best Software of 2005 categories and nominees appears here.
