According to Microsoft Press, the 688-page book, aimed at intermediate and advanced readers, shows how to:
        • Design a user interface optimized for smart devices
        • Add functionality by using Windows Mobile APIs
        • Organize and persist data stored on a device
        • Establish network connections and respond to changes in network state
        • Synchronize mobile devices with data stored on backend servers
        • Implement authentication, symmetric encryption, and asymmetric encryption algorithms
        • Optimize application performance for resource-constrained devices
        • Interoperate with native code by using PInvoke and COM interop
Authors Wigley and Foot are both Microsoft MVPs (most valuable professionals) for Device Application Development, and are independent consultants engaged in .NET Compact Framework and mobile application development. Daniel Moth works for Microsoft U.K. in the Developer and Platform group, and specializes in the .NET Framework and mobile technologies.

The book is currently available from online retailers, including:
        • Amazon
        • Barnes & Noble
        • quantumbooks
