The company said that during the fourth quarter it worked on 66 service projects, a 7 percent decrease from the fourth quarter of the prior fiscal year, but that average project revenue increased by 38 percent. During the quarter, the company's Windows CE-related projects included a handheld data collection device and a smartphone designed for secure applications, while its Windows Mobile-related projects included a variety of smartphones, data collection devices, and PDAs with phone capabilities, the company said.
Also during the fourth quarter, the company delivered its first shipments of the DevKit IDP320, its newest reference design, which is based on the Marvell PXA320 processor. Additionally, the company launched a suite of products, services, and
training in support of Microsoft's
recently launched Windows CE 6.0.
For the fourth fiscal quarter, revenue for the quarter was $14.1 million, up 11 percent over the fourth quarter of 2005, and a 23 percent increase over the third quarter of 2006. Additionally, the company reported net income for the quarter of $706,000, compared to a net loss of $246,000 in the fourth quarter of 2005. Q4's net income was the highest since the Q1 of 2001, the company said.
CEO Brian Crowley said that the company "This was a satisfying quarter for Bsquare. We experienced strong demand for our engineering services, shipped our new IDP320 reference design and saw good demand from customers interested in designing SDIO-Hx into their devices. Further, we believe this strength will continue throughout fiscal 2007."
