Bsquare introduced new Windows CE 5.0 products and services today at Microsoft's Windows Embedded Developer Conference (DevCon) in San Diego, and celebrated its 300th Windows CE service engagement. The new offerings include developer toolkits and licenses, board support packages, enhanced SDIO drivers, consulting and engineering services, and technical support packages.

Bsquare says that it is releasing Windows CE 5.0 BSPs (board support packages) for AMD's Alchemy Au1x00 processor family development boards, and that it will release the source code for the BSPs in September. It will also be offering support for Datalight's FlashFX flash filesystem for some of the BSPs. Bsquare announced versions of the Alchemy BSPs for Windows CE 4.2 earlier this year.

Bsquare's new Windows CE 5.0 consulting and engineering service packages will offer pre-defined sets of engineering services hours on a time-and-materials basis, including 40-hour, 80-hour, and 160-hour options. Additionally, the company is rolling out new Windows CE 5.0 technical support packages and will be offering Windows CE 5.0 Microsoft Official Curriculum training.

Bsquare says that during the past year it has helped a growing number of device makers create a diverse range of Windows CE based smart devices including set-top boxes, handheld bar code scanners, home entertainment centers, ruggedized battlefield portable devices, medical handhelds, access points, and other innovative devices. The company also worked with leading silicon vendors to develop Windows CE based board support packages and developed high quality drivers for key peripheral vendors.

"We are thrilled to celebrate the milestone of our 300th Windows CE service engagement from the past 3 years alone and look forward to continuing our role as an extension of our customer's internal development teams," said Bsquare CEO Brian Crowley.
