COM Express modules, the 4.9-by-3.75-inch CXB-CD9455 is designed to attach to a separately available baseboard. As a "Type 2" module, it makes this connection via two surface-mount 220-pin connectors. Expansion capabilities consist of five one-lane PCI Express interfaces, plus a standard 32-bit, 33MHz PCI interface.
The device uses Intel's 945GME northbridge and ICH7DH southbridge, and it has a single 200-pin SODIMM socket that is said to accept up to 2GB of DDR2 memory. Supported processors are Intel's Celeron M 440, clocked at 1.8GHz, or the Core Duo L2400 clocked at 1.66GHz.
Intel's Graphics Media Accelerator 950 circuitry, part of the 945GME, is used to access up to 224MB of shared video RAM, and it can drive dual independent displays. Analog-interfaced CRTs and LVDS-connected LCD screens can each be run with resolution up to 2048 x 1536 pixels, MSC says.
The CXB-CD9455 packs eight USB ports -- designed to be the means of attaching a mouse and keyboard, among other things, though the device can boot without either. It also includes an LPC interface, two SATA-2 ports, an enhanced IDE port, and a gigabit Ethernet interface based on Intel's 82573 chip.
In addition to its other capabilities, the CXB-CD9455 is said to provide hardware and BIOS-based security compliant to the requirements of the
Trusted Computing Group (TCG). It includes an onboard
