(Click here for larger image)Measuring 3.5 x 2.4 x 0.6 inches (89 x 62 x 16 mm), weighing 3.9 ounces (110 g), and sporting a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen, the N100 is claimed by Fujitsu to be the "lightest and smallest multifunctional PNA (personal navigation assistant) on the market."
The N100 runs "Windows CE 5.0 Core" on a Samsung processor, clocked at 300 MHz. The device is equipped with 64 MB of RAM, and includes a 1 GB flash SD card for data storage. An integrated SiRFstar III GPS receiver provides position data. The device also can play MP3, WMA, AAC audio files. Data is transferred to/from the unit via a Mini USB 1.1 connector.
The device includes MobileNavigator|6 software from
Navigon. An included DVD contains detailed street maps of 37 European countries, which can be downloaded, as required, to N100's flash miniSD card.
The N100 is available with an optional TMC module, an FM receiver that picks up Traffic Message Channel (TMC) data. TMC broadcasts real-time traffic and weather information over the FM Radio Data System (RDS) and can alert drivers to potential problems enroute. The N100 decodes the TMC data stream and presents only the information relevant to the user's current location and route, according to Fujitsu. TMC is currently broadcasting in several western European countries with others expected to come online soon, according to
TMC Forum, the TMC trade association.
The Loox N100 appears to be immediately available in Europe. Pricing was not disclosed.
