Advantech's eAutomation Group has extended its line of Touch Panel Computers (TPC) with a pair of 5.7-inch QVGA models based on XScale processors. The TPC-66S and TPC-66T are RoHS compliant and come with Windows CE 5.0 installed in on-board flash, according to the company.

Both units run a 416 MHz PXA270 with 64 MB of SDRAM and 64 MB of on-board flash in an "ultra-slim" fanless design. Innterface ports include:
        • 10/100 Ethernet
        • 2 USB 1.1 (one host, one client)
        • 3 serial -- 2 full RS232, 1 4-pin RS232/422/485
A CompactFlash slot is available for expanded storage.

The primary distinction between the two devices is the display. The 66S features a 5.7-inch STN LCD with a contrast ratio of 55:1, while the 66T boasts a 5.6-inch TFT LCD with a 400:1 contrast ratio. Both displays support 16-bit color and have 1024 x 1024 4-wire resistive touchscreens.

With a NEMA4/IP65 compliant front panel, the TPC-66S and TPC-66T are intended for system control interfaces in harsh environments such as machine automation, intelligent transport systems (ITS), and food industries, according to eAutomation. Additionally, the two new models offer a performance/price ratio "better than other similar products in the market," the company says.

Both models are immediately available. The TPC-66S starts at $790, while the TPC-66T is priced from $850.
