CPU and core-logic chipset maker Silicon Integrated Systems Corp. (SiS) says it has formed partnership with Billionton to produce portable DVD players, portable GPS units, and wireless billboard advertising machines using its SiS552LV system-on-chip (SoC) processor technology and running Microsoft's Windows CE .NET embedded operating...
system. The planned products will include: a portable consumer DVD player; an in-car PC featuring DVD playback, GPS navigation, and a web browser; and "wireless billboards" that are continually updated via "e-broadcasts."
According to SIS, the SiS550 chipset series provides a high performance/low cost system-on-chip (SoC) solution by integrating an x86 compatible processor, high performance North Bridge, advanced hardware GUI engine, and Super-South bridge. In addition, the SiS550 series complies with the Easy PC Initiative that supports Instantly Available/OnNow PC technology, USB, Legacy Removal, CIR, Memory Stick, Smart Card and Slotless Design for a variety of IA (Information Appliance) applications.
