"We are excited to be able to offer the industry's highest video performance fully integrated with the Windows CE platform," said John O'Donnell, co-founder and CTO of Equator Technologies. "Supporting high-definition broadcast, IP transport and PC-resident video, the Equator BSP-15 in the full Windows CE .NET environment will power a compelling range of consumer and operator video-rich products,"
Equator said standard definition Windows Media 9 Series decoding uses just a fraction of the BSP-15's processing power, leaving plenty of headroom for additional post-processing or support of other functionality.
Equator describes its BSP-15 processor as "a 100% C/C++ programmable, system-on-a-chip solution" that is based on proprietary VLIW architecture. The BSP-15 functions as a multi-format media-processing engine, and is said to support a list of codecs that includes Windows Media 9 Series (in standard definition and 720p high definition), H.264, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, RealVideo, DivX, H.263, H.263+, and VP6.
The new drivers are part of Equator's iMMediaTools version 6.0 toolkit, and will be incorporated intoproduction platforms that ship this year, the company said.
