(Click here for larger image of Vito Remote screen shot)Vito Remote uses the standard infrared port of a Pocket PC to send signals to any device similarly equipped with an infrared port. According to Vito, such devices include -- but are not limited to -- TV sets, stereos, VCRs, DVD players, camcorders, cameras, TiVo boxes, and even garage gates and video cameras. Basically, Vito Remote is a single universal controller that takes the place of all the individual remotes that came with the devices.

Vito says that Remote works with virtually any type of home or office equipment through two mechanisms. The program can learn the command signals from a standard remote control, recording them in an interface profile. Alternatively, Remote supports CCF (Cabernet Configuration File) files that define the commands and signalling for a specific device. CCF files can be found on the Internet, installed onto a Pocket PC, and opened with Remote.
Vito Remote comes with 50 pre-defined profiles for a range of TVs and VCRs. Each profile includes a set of commands and a graphic interface, according to Vito. Commands can be organized into macros to perform several actions with a single button press, for example "turn on and then switch to channel 5."
