InHand Electronics has incorporated Socket Communications' KwikBlue Bluetooth wireless modules onto its Elf3 and Fingertip3 low-power "credit card" sized reference platforms. The new reference platforms are available immediately from InHand for Microsoft's Windows CE. NET embedded operating system.

KwikBlue said its modules are available in surface mount device (SMD) packaging as well as highly integrated small footprint board-to-board connectible packages with an on-board antenna.

According to Socket, its KwikBlue modules have been awarded v1.1 qualification by the Bluetooth Qualification Body (BQB) and have FCC Modular Approval. FCC Modular Approval is essentially a pre-approval of most of the required FCC testing and simplifies the FCC certification process for companies seeking to integrate Bluetooth wireless connectivity into their products.

Elf3 and Fingertip3 development platforms with KwikBlue modules are available from InHand. The Elf3 and Fingertip3 (photo at right) reference platform hardware and software is also available for licensing, InHand said. (Click here for an enlarged photo.)
