        Customizable rugged mobile computer runs Windows CE

        Grayhill announced that it is offering custom mobile computing products based on Intel's XScale processors running Windows CE 4.2.         Grayhill says that its mobile computing devices are supplied with all of the tools required for Windows CE programming, including a platform SDK that installs into Visual Studio or eVC++, ActiveSync ports for both USB and serial, and "multiple methods of registry editing" for field deployment. All platforms are "fully regression tested [including] file systems, device drivers, peripherals, and operating system stress tests, to ensure reliability" according to the company.

        Grayhill lists the following key features and specifications for the DuraMax:
        • Processor -- Intel XScale at 400 MHz
        • Memory -- 64 MB RAM, 32 MB Flash
        • Display:
          • 8.4-inch SVGA LCD
          • Sunlight readable
          • ATEX rated high impact
        • Expansion -- (not specified)
        • Wireless options:
          • Cellular -- CDMA, 1X RTT, 1X EV-DO
            WLAN -- 802.11 a, b or g
          • Bluetooth
          • Zigbee
        • Environmental:
          • Immersion -- 3 feet for 30 minutes. Meets IP65, IP67, and NEMA4
          • Impact -- 4 foot drop per MIL 810F
          • Operating temperature -- -20 to +50 degrees C
          • Rubber overmolded sides
          • Sealed docking cradle connector
          • Sealed speakers and microphone
        • Battery -- "Full shift battery power", approximately 8 hours
