Datalogic announced a 10.4-inch panel PC designed for mounting on forklifts. The "Rhino" runs Windows CE on a 520MHz Marvell PXA270 processor, has 128MB of RAM and 128MB of flash storage, has an enclosure that's sealed to IP65 standards, and accepts power ranging from 10 to 60VDC, according to the company.

Datalogic's Rhino (pictured) is an all-in-one panel PC intended for use in distribution centers, warehouses, and manufacturing shop floors -- all of which typically entails mounting on a forklift or similar vehicle. The device has an aluminum enclosure that's sealed all around to IP65 standards, plus both a resistive touchscreen and the option of QWERTY or ABCD keyboards.

According to Datalogic, the Rhino features a fully isolated power supply that lets it run safely on power ranging from 10 to 60VDC, and an internal backup battery that preserves data in the case of power failure. It tolerates an operating range from 14 to 122 deg. F (with 32 deg. startup), or -22 to 140 deg. F (with -4 deg. startup) in an extended temperature model, the company says.

The Rhino also meets MIL-STD 810F standards for tolerating shock and vibration, says Datalogic. Storage is solid-state, via either 128MB of integral flash storage, a Type I/II Compact Flash slot, or an SD slot, according to the company.

Datalogic says the Rhino runs Windows CE 6.0 R3 via a 520MHz Marvell PXA270 processor. It has a 10.4-inch resistive touchscreen with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels, a 400-nit brightness rating, and a 300:1 contrast ratio, the company adds.

You won't find cellular capabilties here, Datalogic's assumption obviously being that the plant where the Rhino is put into service will have wireless local area networking. The device includes 802.11b/g wireless networking (via the CompactFlash slot), plus a Bluetooth dongle (USB, we presume), the company says.

Wired interfaces, meanwhile, include two RS232 ports (DB9 connectors, with selectable 5/12VDC power for available external barcode scanners), two USB host ports, and an optional 10/100 Ethernet port. We didn't see mention of a headphone jack, but the Rhino has two internal speakers "capable of over 90dB," according to Datalogic.

Specifications listed by Datalogic for the Rhino include:
