Mistral Software has released a hardware/software development kit targeting the Texas Instruments OMAP5912 dual-core processor. The "rapid development kit" (RDK), which includes a Windows CE board support package (BSP), provides developers with an easy way to simulate and test applications before finalizing designs,...

        according to the company.

Mistrial's RDK is a plug-in module for TI's OMAP5912 Starter Kit (OSK). The board included in the RDK supports four RF modules -- including GPS, GSM/GPRS, WLAN, and Bluetooth -- which are interfaced through serial ports. Other features of the board include 64 MB of NAND Flash, an SDIO expansion socket, and USB 2.0 OTG, according to the company.

The full RDK bundle also includes:
        • TI OSK
        • QVGA LCD module
        • 640x480 camera module
        • Code Composer Studio
        • Windows CE runtime and drivers
Mistral says the RDK can be easily customized and extended with add-ons like RFID, Smartcard, swipe card, printers, and barcode readers.
