        Developing orientation- and resolution-aware Pocket PC apps

        Microsoft's MSDN developer website has published a hands-on lab article that explains how to convert an existing Pocket PC application to be aware of landscape orientation and screen resolution on devices running Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition.

        The exercise uses a crossword game example (shown above) that contains many characteristics representative of real-world applications, including owner-drawn controls and off-screen memory buffers. The Mobile Application Development Toolkit is required to complete the lab. The sample crossword application runs on the Pocket PC 2003 SE Emulator.
