Vibren Technologies reports that it has been awarded its 14th contract to develop Windows CE .NET based software for companies creating new products based on Microsoft's Windows CE .NET embedded operating system. The projects include wireless devices, media streaming, set-top boxes, and scanners, Vibren says, and involve "many of the best-known, global 100 companies in the world."Also today,...

Vibren announced that it has been selected by Transmeta Corporation to be a primary integration partner for the Crusoe Embedded System Developer Kit (ESDK). Vibren says it is prepared to support the many manufacturers expected to incorporate Microsoft Windows CE .NET or Windows XP Embedded operating systems into their new Crusoe-based devices, and that it can architect, code, test, and implement mobile and industry-specific solutions for Windows CE .NET platforms, working in tandem with product designers or on a fully outsourced basis.

"Embedded systems projects are often harbingers of great new products to come so we are very excited about the CE-based products that we see coming down the development path," noted Tom DeSisto, vice president, business development, Vibren Technologies. "We expect interest in the [Microsoft's embedded operating systems] to grow further as product development teams learn more about the capabilities offered by the OS. Already we are seeing some radically different product designs and we are creating new approaches to integrate products with corporate networks and the Internet."

The company says that in addition to programming software for products that run on Windows CE .NET or XP Embedded, its engineers currently work in more than fifty areas of technology development -- e.g. wireless, multimedia, control systems, gaming -- and have expertise in six classes of chip design.

Vibren is an engineering development and services company formed by NEC in January 2000 as a wholly owned subsidiary, and is a gold-level member of Microsoft's Windows Embedded Partner (WEP) program.
