SIPquest has announced that its VoIP software for dual-mode (WiFi+cellular) communications now supports Windows Mobile 5.0. Mobile Console provides a single GUI for both communication modes, along with a single unified number that converges the user's WiFi and cellular identities, according to the company.

The Mobile Console client provides command and control of communications over WiFi, WiFi and GSM, or WiFi and CDMA network interfaces, the company says. A "Network Aware" feature detects and recommends network connectivity to allow users to place and receive a call over the best available network -- WiFi or cellular -- optimizing for lowest cost, highest call quality or user preference.

According to SIPquest, Mobile Console is easy for service providers to deploy, and includes network-side operations and control features, as well as a path to multimedia deployment via the company's IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) option.

"We are proud to be the first VoIP application to support [Windows Mobile] Version 5.0," said SIPquest CEO David Hattey. "The combination of Mobile Console's personal command and control capabilities with [Windows] Mobile 5.0's productivity features makes for a highly attractive productivity tool for enterprise mobile workers."
