        EBX board boasts PCI-Express, Opteron, Windows Embedded

        Win Enterprises has released an EBX form-factor SBC (single-board computer) featuring a 16-lane PCI-Express slot and a stackable HyperTransport connector. The MB-06047 is among the first embedded-oriented SBCs to incorporate AMD's long-life Opteron processor.


        It supports both Windows CE and Windows XP Embedded.

        The MB-06047 uses a low-power (up to 55W) AMD Opteron processor, and can be used with dual core Opteron processors such as the 252 and 852. AMD recently moved several high-end 32/64-bit Opteron microprocessors onto its embedded roadmap, assuring availability of the chips for five years in order to accommodate the longevity requirements of embedded applications. The SBC accommodates up to 8 GB of onboard DDR RAM.

        Win-Enterprises lists the following key features and specifications for the MB-06047:
        • Processor:
          • Supports AMD Opteron HE (55W) and EE (30W)
          • Can be used with dual core Opteron processors
        • Memory -- up to 8 GB DDR RAM
        • Video -- SMI VGA controller
        • Audio -- AC-97 codec ALC850
        • Expansion:
          • Right-angle 16-Lane PCI-Express slot
          • Stackable HyperTransport connector
          • ExpressCard socket
        • Storage:
          • 50-pin CompactFlash socket
          • Four serial ATA
        • I/O Ports:
          • Dual Gigabit Ethernet
          • Four USB 2.0
          • Serial port
        The MB-06047 is expected to be available in the second quarter, according to the company.
