The Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) comes to Boston September 25 to 28. In addition to scores of classes on numerous topics of interest to device developers, the event will debut a "Disruption Zone" that will showcase cutting-edge electronics technology start-ups, according to show organizers.

ESC Boston's technical program includes 82 classes in eight tracks, covering a wide range of hardware and software topics. Two 90-minute classes of particular interest to WindowsForDevices readers are being led by David Heil, Chief Engineer of CalAmp Solutions Corp.:

Key events include a keynote talk on "Improbable Research and the Ig Nobel Prizes," by Marc Abrahams, editor and co-founder of the science humor magazine Annals of Improbable Research (AIR) and its web site; an industry address on "The Embedded Revolution," by Joe Jensen, General Manager of Marketing and Platform Programs for Intel's Communication and Infrastructure Group; and a live, unrehearsed "Get to the Point Panel" that "pits two opposing industry executives or pundits against each other," conference organizers say.

The new Disruption Zone area and its related activities aim to offer emerging companies access to influential electronics professionals. Disruption Zone exhibitors will receive turnkey exhibit space, print and online advertising, and a slot at a special invitation-only luncheon, where participants will have five minutes each to present their companies to an influential audience of venture capitalists, analysts, and media.
