BCM Advanced Research has introduced a Mini-ITX SBC (single board computer) intended for medical, POS, kiosk, and digital multimedia applications. The MX266 supports Via Eden processors ranging from 400MHz to 1.0GHz.

The board's software support includes Windows XP Embedded and Windows CE 4.2 and 5.0.

The MX266 features the Via CLE266 chipset, which includes enhancement of multimedia applications by an MPEG-2 decoder, integrated 2D/3D graphics with 8X AGP performance, and AC 97 audio codec, according to BCM. The board also supports LVDS LCD panels up to 48 bits.

Input/output ports include: PS/2 keyboard and mouse, dual serial, parallel port, VGA video, TV video (requires optional TV-out module), audio in/out, Gigabit Ethernet, 10/100 megabit Ethernet, 6 USB 2.0 ports.

To facilitate additional expansion, the MX266 provides a PCI slot that has three extra signals -- CLK, REQ, and GNT -- which support the addition of an optional 3-slot PCI riser. Additionally, a Mini-PCI socket is also included which allows adding modems, wireless interfaces, or other expansion functions within the board's form-factor.

Storage options include two IDE channels for up to four IDE devices, Dual S-ATA supporting RAID 0, 1, or 0+1, and a CompactFlash socket for onboard, bootable "solid state disk."
