Bitstream announced today that it has optimized its ThunderHawk Web browser for the Intel Personal Internet Client Architecture (Intel PCA) platform. Bitstream claims that its ThunderHawk mobile browsing technology gives users the same browsing experience on a wireless device as they are used to on the desktop.

Intel PCA is a hardware and software platform framework for cell phones and handheld client devices. The objective is to separate computing and communications subsystems to ease development and reduce time-to-market. Intel claims the following benefits of PCA:
        • Makes applications independent of communications standards
        • Enables software to run on a standard computing platform
        • Encourages a broad range of general-purpose applications
        • Preserves software development investments
        • Accelerates the transition to voice and data services
According to Intel, there are more than 10,000 individual members, 6000 companies, and over 800 available solutions in the Intel PCA Developer Network, which is described as "a global community of hardware and software developers working to accelerate the delivery of next-generation wireless Internet applications and client devices.
