Four "special events" will be held concurrently with the Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) 2006, next week in San Jose. The "co-located" special events include the Microprocessor Summit, DSO (device software optimization) World, the EE Times Ace Awards, and the D2M (design to manufacturing) conference.

        Specifically, scheduled special events include:
        • Microprocessor Summit -- Mon., Apr. 3 -- a "forum for major semiconductor companies to talk about their near-future plans -- as well as current chips"

        • DSO World -- Tue.-Thu., Apr. 4-6 -- topics include using open source, reference designs, building for portability, multicore, the Eclipse Device Software Development Platform project, and "real-world" DSO design wins in telematics, consumer electronics, networking, and A&D (aerospace and defense)

        • Ace Awards -- Tues., Apr. 4 -- "Recognizing the people, companies, and products that show leadership in the electronics industry"

        • D2M Conference -- Tue.-Thu., Apr. 4-6 -- featuring sessions on the ROHS (reduction of hazardous substances) Act, designing for manufacturing, testing and measurement, and "emerging and enabling" technologies
More details may be available at the main ESC 2006 website.
