MC9000 family rugged handhelds are powered by a 400MHz Intel PXA255 XScale processor and run either Windows CE .NET or Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC Phone Edition. The devices feature built-in 1D and 2D scanners, have an IP64 sealing rating, and can survive multiple six foot drops to concrete.
Sierra Wireless says its
EM3400 series embedded modem modules utilize the latest CDMA2000 1X technology and provide a "powerful, wireless engine" that offers voice, data, and SMS functionality at data rates up to 153 Kbps. The devices also support Qualcomm's
Zero IF technology that reduces parts count and saves board space by eliminating the intermediate frequency stage of RF conversion.
EM3400 series modules have passed carrier approval requirements and certification standards to comply with CDMA 1X requirements, according to the Sierra Wireless. The company says it provides extensive support software, applications, and tools to ease the process of embedding CDMA technology within a variety of devices.
