Emphasizing the PDA aspects of the device, HTC says it is aimed at the enterprise market, much like its predecessor, the
P6300 (depicted at right). That model was introduced as recently as July, but the P6500 appears to improve on its specifications substantially.
The P6500 adds GPS, and is packed with pretty much every other function an enterprise PDA/phone might include, according to HTC. For example, it has a fingerprint sensor and dual SDIO slots for expansion.
A novel security feature, in addition to the fingerprint sensor, is a "Remote Wipe" function, said to be capable of erasing all of the device's internal data -- including that on any storage cards -- remotely, in case of loss or theft.
As mentioned, there is also an auto-focus camera with flash. HTC says its resolution makes the device suitable for acting as a business card reader or 2D barcode reader.
The P6500 is based on a Qualcomm MSM7200 processor clocked at 400 MHz. The memory complement is 256 MB of RAM, plus a large 1 GB of flash.
