Fiat and Microsoft will reportedly unveil a Windows Mobile based automotive infotainment platform featuring hands-free voice recognition at the Geneva Motorshow later this month. The Blue&Me platform will be available on new Fiat and Alfa Romeo cars beginning the middle of this year, Gizmag.com reports.

Blue&Me appears to be the first product to come out of a strategic partnership announced by Microsoft and Fiat in 2004.

According to the Gizmag.com story, the Blue&Me platform uses Bluetooth to link the vehicle's infotainment server with mobile devices such as phones and digital media players. A USB port in the glove box can also be used to connect non-Bluetooth digital devices. Additionally, the hands free system's voice recognition package requires no preliminary training, the article says.

Microsoft hinted Fiat's forthcoming infotainment system launch in an announcement earlier this month.
