        First Mil Spec PDA runs CE .NET

        Claimed to be the "first ruggedized PDA," the TetraPAD is due out in May from Logic Instrument. Based on a 400 MHz Intel XScale processor, and enclosed in a magnesium case, the device meets Mil Specs for temperature, shock, and radiation, the company says.

        The TetraPAD will initially run Microsoft's Windows CE .NET. Additionally, the company plans to offer Pocket PC as an option starting in October of this year, following validation with Microsoft.

        Key features and specifications include:

        • Display: 4-inch reflective TFT LCD (640x480) with resistive touchscreen

        • I/O ports (standard): USB (two), serial, docking. IrDA
        • I/O ports (optional): 802.11b WLAN, GPS, GSM/GPRS, Bluetooth
        • Expansion: PCMCIA, SD Card
        • Battery: 1,800 mAH, 7.4 volt Li-ion standard. Second battery optional.
        • Dimensions: 175 x 104 x 39mm (L x W x H)
        • Weight: 410 grams
        • Complies with IP54 or IP65 (depending on model); MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 conformance also available
