The screen operates in a choice of portrait and landscape modes when functioning as a PDA, but defaults to landscape when the keyboard is in use.

The device runs Windows Mobile 5.0 on a 520 MHz Intel Bulverde (PXA27x) processor with 64 MB of SDRAM and 128 MB of Flash. It features dual cameras with built-in flash, and dual speakers for stereo sound, according to the company.
In addition to the usual applications supplied with Windows Mobile, i-mate says the JasJar comes pre-loaded with Skype for Internet VoIP telephony and Computer Associates eTrust Antivirus software.
