Windows Mobile 6 and discusses their benefits to various target audiences, including developers, IT professionals, business users, OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), and mobile operators.
Key new features and capabilities implemented by Windows Mobile 6, according to the Guide, include:
- A new level of communications efficiency and "fidelity" to Office Outlook Mobile
- Improved user productivity by increasing the amount of information available to the mobile user and "helping users reach deeper in to available information"
- improved operation and security with Exchange Server for managing a mobile workforce
Additionally, a new nomenclature comes into play with the advent of Windows Mobile 6. The "Classic" version, for example, replaces the Pocket PC and Pocket PC Premium editions of Windows Mobile 5 for non-connected devices, while the "Standard" version replaces the Smartphone edition of Windows Mobile 5 for connected devices, and the "Professional" version replaces the Pocket PC Phone edition of Windows Mobile 5, for connected devices with touchscreens.
