Garmin International has added a new model to its line of Windows Mobile-powered GPS PDAs. The iQue M4 boasts a new highly sensitive SiRF GPS receiver, and comes pre-loaded with "highly detailed" street data for the entire US, Canada, and Puerto Rico, according to the company.

The iQue M4 is probably based an Intel PXA271 processor like its predecessor, the iQue M3. The device includes 64 MB of RAM memory, and provides an SD/SDIO slot that can be used for storage, wireless networking, and other expansion.

Like the M3, the M4 runs Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition and includes the usual range of Pocket Office applications. However, according to Garmin, the M4 incorporates larger, more intuitive navigational icons, making it possible to select icons with a finger rather than a stylus. Destinations can be entered by name, street address, or through the points of interest (POIs) database, which includes nearly six million POIs such as restaurants, fuel, banks, and hotels, Garmin says.

"The M4's pre-loaded maps and Pocket PC features make it a versatile tool for mobile professionals who need an all-in-one device designed to help them stay ahead of their schedule and on route to their next appointment," said Garmin vice president of marketing Gary Kelley.

The iQue M4 is expected to be available in December, at an estimated retail price of $700.
