(Click here for larger image)According to u-blox, u-center mobile provides satellite status and positioning information, facilitates 2D representations of any GPS parameter in real-time, and offers extensive configuration options. Additionally, the system has a data recorder with playback functionality that enables GPS data logging. Log files created with u-center-mobile are compatible with desktop u-center, allowing log files to be analyzed either on the handheld or a PC, the company says.
The tool's built-in AssistNow Client software enables access to u-blox's AssistNow A-GPS service framework that reduces TTFF (time to first fix) down to seconds, and enables satellite acquisition even under difficult signal conditions, according to the company.

U-center mobile supports various GPS interfaces such as Bluetooth, USB, UART, CompactFlash, and SDIO, as well as fully integrated GPS receivers, according to u-blox. Additionally, it supports the standard NMEA ASCII-based GPS protocol and the company's own binary protocol.
U-center creator Michael Ammann explains, "This powerful tool will become an indispensable companion for developers of GPS-enabled handheld devices, who will be able to test GPS performance directly on the device that they are designing. All other GPS product developers will also benefit, as they will be able to connect their GPS applications to any mobile device with u-center mobile installed and use its powerful GPS evaluation features from anywhere."
