Nomad announced in July. However, the Nomad 800LC comes with a 2 megapixel digital camera, while the Nomad 800LE comes with both the camera and an integrated laser bar code scanner, Trimble said.
As with the original Nomad, the 21-ounce devices offer a full VGA-resolution display and are based on a 806 MHz Marvell PXA320 processor. They come with 128 MB of RAM and either 512 MB or 1 GB of flash memory.
Other standard features include a touchscreen, integrated speaker and microphone, Bluetooth 2.0, USB host and client ports, and an audio jack. Memory may be expanded via either a Type II CompactFlash slot or an SDIO slot.
Dale Kyle, rugged handhelds product manager for Trimble subsidiary Tripod Data Systems, stated, "Our customers have responded enthusiastically to all the power and functionality of the Nomad. Adding camera and scanning features puts even more capabilities into our users' hands."
The Nomad 800LC and the Nomad 800LE are available now, according to Trimble. The 800LC is priced around $2100, while the 800LE is approximately $2500.
