        HP to unleash Windows Mobile "Treo killer" July 1st

        Hewlett-Packard will unleash its answer to the PalmOne Treo 650 on July 1st, according to its Singapore website. The iPAQ hw6515 Mobile Media Companion combines a TFT touchscreen, QWERTY keyboard, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE communications, GPS, 1280x1024 camera, SD and MiniSD card slots, and both Bluetooth and IrDA.

        The hw6515 runs Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition Phone Edition on an Intel PXA270 clocked at 312 MHz, and equipped with 64 MB of RAM and 64 MB of Flash. The quad-band wireless device includes a GPS receiver and a 1.3 megapixel camera.

        HP lists the following key features and specifications for the hw6515:

        • Battery -- 1200 mAh lithium-ion, removable; option for 1800 mAh

        The hw6515 is priced at 1347 Singapore dollars, or about $807 USD. HP has not said when the device will be offered in the US market.
