HTC's 7 Pro will be the second Windows Phone 7 device to offer a hardware QWERTY keyboard, a feature that's often sought by enterprise customers. The first was Dell's Venue Pro (right), a T-Mobile-offered phone whose manufacturer has struggled to keep up with demand.

Initially released Windows Phones all use Qualcomm QSD8250 or 8650 chipsets, Microsoft having mandated the use of these in order to get its revamped mobile operating system out more quickly. Both include the Scorpion application processors, but the QSD8250 supports only GSM, GPRS, EDGE and HSPA networks, whereas the QSD8650 supports both these and CDMA2000 1X, 1xEV-DO 0/A/B networks, according to the chipmaker.
The first batch of Windows Phone 7 handsets were all GSM devices, and O2 is a GSM provider, meaning that the initial HTC HD7 Pro will be no different in that regard. Microsoft has said CDMA Windows Phones for carriers such as Sprint and Verizon will be available in early 2011.
